Reflection & Gratitude

Honoured to be Featured in OCAD U’s Alum Spotlight

As a proud graduate of OCAD University, I’m beyond thrilled to be featured in their most recent Alum Spotlight article. It’s a moment of reflection and gratitude for me as I look back on my time at OCADU (The school was just called OCAD when I graduated) and the profound impact it has had on my personal and professional journey. Being able to give back and share my story through this Alum Spotlight feels like a full-circle moment. I’m deeply grateful to the OCADU community for nurturing creativity and pushing artistic boundaries. It's because of OCADU that I’ve had the chance to work on projects that champion art, design, and culture.

When I first set foot on the OCAD campus back in September 2001, I could have never predicted where my art and design journey would take me. The opportunities to explore disciplines, and connect with like-minded individuals, and experienced professors were invaluable. The conversations, competitions and collaborations laid the groundwork for a lot of the work I’ve done since. My time at OCAD not only helped me hone my artistic vision but also gave me the tools to think critically, lead creatively, and build brands that tell meaningful stories.

Supporting the Inaugural OCAD U Gala

I’m proud to also announce that Mimran Group Inc. will be a supporting sponsor of the inaugural OCAD U Gala, happening May 28th at 100 McCaul Street - the main building and Rosalie Sharp Centre for Design. The event is a huge milestone for the University, convening Toronto’s most creative and influential minds in the art and design sector and I’m excited to be part of this new tradition as a committee member and sponsor.

The OCAD U Gala is not just about celebrating past successes, but also about looking forward to the future of art and design education. It’s a chance for alumni, students, and the greater community to come together and raise support for the next generation of creative leaders.

30" x 60" oil painting Chateau Saint-Martin by Jordin Mimran

In addition to consulting on the event as a committee member, I will be donating one of my original oil paintings for the live auction portion of the evening. The painting Chateau Saint-Martin (30” x 60”) shown here will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with proceeds going towards the University. The painting, framed in simple white depicts the tranquil refuge of Chateau Saint-Martin, tucked away in the Riviera hills of France with verdant dusk views of the terrace and pool, including a rendering of a sculpture by Spanish artist Manolo Valdes.
